Simon Schempp (born November 14, 1988) is a German former biathlete. A biathlete is an athlete who competes in biathlon, a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Simon Schempp is known for winning many medals in major competitions.

Simon Schempp's Biathlon Career

Simon Schempp started his professional biathlon career in 2009. He quickly became a top athlete in the sport. He competed in many World Cup races, which are a series of events held throughout the winter season.

World Championship Success

Simon Schempp won his first individual World Championship gold medal in 2017. This was for the 15 km mass start race in Hochfilzen, Austria. He also won three other gold medals as part of German relay teams.

  • In 2010, he won gold in the mixed relay at Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
  • In 2015, he won gold in the men's relay at Kontiolahti, Finland.
  • In 2017, he won another gold in the mixed relay at Hochfilzen, Austria.

He also earned two silver medals and two bronze medals at the World Championships.

Olympic Games Achievements

Simon Schempp represented Germany in three Winter Olympic Games.

  • At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, his team finished fifth in the men's relay.
  • At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, he won a silver medal. This was for the 4 x 7.5 km men's relay race.
  • At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, he won two more medals. He earned a silver medal in the 15 km mass start race. He also won a bronze medal in the 4 x 7.5 km men's relay.

Retirement
