Simon Schempp is a German athlete who used to compete in Biathlon. Biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Simon was born on November 14, 1988.

Simon Schempp's Career Highlights

Simon started his professional biathlon career in 2009. This is when he first competed in the Biathlon World Cup.

World Championship Success

He became a world champion in 2017. He won a gold medal in the 15-kilometer mass start race at the World Championships in Hochfilzen, Austria. Simon also won three other gold medals. Two were for being part of the German mixed relay team. These wins happened at the 2010 World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, and the 2017 World Championships in Hochfilzen. He earned another gold medal as part of the German men's relay team in 2015. This was at the World Championships in Kontiolahti, Finland.

Olympic Games Participation

Simon also represented Germany at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. His team finished fifth in the men's relay event. He continued to compete in the Olympics in 2014 and 2018, earning two silver medals and one bronze medal.

Retirement from Biathlon

On January 28, 2021, Simon Schempp announced that he was retiring from biathlon.
