Exploring Slieve Commedagh
Slieve Commedagh is located to the northwest of Slieve Donard. These two large mountains are connected by a low area called a col. Think of a col as a saddle between two peaks.
What You Can Find on the Mountain
A famous stone wall, known as the Mourne Wall, crosses over the very top of Slieve Commedagh. This wall runs from east to west across the summit. At the top, there is also a small tower with just one room. You can also see the remains of an old burial cairn. A cairn is a pile of stones built by people long ago, often as a memorial or a marker.
On the southern side of the mountain, there is a group of interesting rock formations. These are made of granite and are called 'the Castles'. They look like giant stone towers.
Nearby Mountains
Slieve Commedagh is part of a larger group of mountains called a massif. This means it's a main mountain with several smaller peaks around it. Other summits in this group include Slievecorragh to the east. To the north, you can find Shan Slieve, Slievenamaddy, and Slievenabrock.
