Sneads Ferry is a community in Onslow County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is the second largest community in Onslow County, after Jacksonville, North Carolina. It is part of the larger Jacksonville area.
Sneads Ferry used to be a quiet fishing village. Since the year 2000, it has grown a lot. The number of people living there increased by 80% between 2000 and 2014. This growth happened because it's easy to get to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune from Sneads Ferry. The community is expected to keep growing quickly in the coming years.

History of Sneads Ferry
Early Beginnings
The story of Sneads Ferry began in 1728. A person named Edmund Ennett started a ferry service on the New River. This ferry helped people travel and transport goods. It was first called "Ennett's Ferry." It became an important stop on the main road connecting Suffolk, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina.
By 1759, two ferries were operating there. Robert Snead ran the ferry on the north side of the river. Because of him, the community that grew around the ferry became known as "Sneads Ferry." The ferry was operated by Caroline Pearson until a bridge was built in 1939.
Fishing and Seafood
Sneads Ferry has always been very important for the seafood industry. Local fishermen catch a lot of seafood every year. They catch over 385 tons of shrimp and 25 tons of flounder. They also catch about 493 tons of other seafood like clams, scallops, oysters, mullet, spot, grouper, and different kinds of crabs.
To celebrate this important industry, the town holds an annual Shrimp Festival. It's a fun event that honors the local seafood and the people who work in the industry.
Historic Places
The Yopps Meeting House is an old building in Sneads Ferry. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. This means it's an important historical site.
