Snow Mountain is a tall mountain found in Franklin County, Maine. It is about 5 miles (8 km) away from the border with Canada. This mountain stands between Bag Pond Mountain to its northeast and Round Mountain to its southeast.

Where the Water Goes
Water from Snow Mountain flows in different directions. This is called its "drainage."
Northern Slopes
The water from the north side of Snow Mountain flows into Indian Stream. From there, it goes into the Chain of Ponds. This water then joins the North Branch of the Dead River. Eventually, it reaches Flagstaff Lake. The water continues its journey down the Dead River. Finally, it flows into the Kennebec River and then into the Gulf of Maine.
Southeastern Slopes
On the southeast side, water from Snow Mountain drains into Little Alder Stream. This stream then flows into Alder Stream. Both of these streams feed into the North Branch of the Dead River. This water also eventually reaches the Kennebec River system.
Western Slopes
Water from the western side of Snow Mountain flows into Big Island Pond. From there, it enters the Kennebago River. This river then joins the Androscoggin River. The Androscoggin River eventually flows into Merrymeeting Bay. Merrymeeting Bay is a special area where the Kennebec River meets the ocean's tides.
