The Story of SoBe
SoBe started as the South Beach Beverage Company in 1996. It was founded by two people, John Bello and Tom Schwalm, in Norwalk, Connecticut.
How SoBe Began
Their very first drink was called SoBe Black Tea 3G. It had special ingredients like ginseng, guarana, and ginkgo. People really liked it, which led to SoBe making many other tasty flavors.
Joining PepsiCo
In October 2000, a big company called PepsiCo bought SoBe. This helped SoBe grow even more.
Bottle Changes
In 2007, SoBe changed all its bottles from glass to plastic. This made them lighter and less likely to break.
Where to Find SoBe Today
As of 2025, SoBe doesn't sell its drinks directly online anymore. You might still find some of their products in stores, but they are mostly available through "special orders."

Mr. Green's Mascot
The soda had a mascot named Mr. Green, who was a "cyber lizard." This character was a modern version of the lizard often seen on other SoBe products. Mr. Green soda was green and had ginseng for flavor and a little extra energy. It was stopped in 2003.
