About South Guardian Angel

South Guardian Angel is a mountain made of white Navajo Sandstone. This type of rock is very common in the area. The peak is about 8 miles (12.9 km) north-northwest of Springdale, Utah.

Its closest and taller neighbor is North Guardian Angel. That peak is just 1.44 miles (2.32 km) to the north. Between these two mountains, you can find a special place called The Subway. It's a small, unique slot canyon that looks like a tunnel.

The name "South Guardian Angel" became official in 1934. It was chosen by the United States Board on Geographic Names. Rain and melting snow from this mountain flow into North Creek. This creek then joins the Virgin River.
