Stacey Jaclyn Dooley is an English television presenter and journalist. She was born on 9 March 1987. She became well-known in 2008 after appearing in the documentary series Blood, Sweat and T-shirts. Since then, Stacey has created many documentaries for BBC Three. These films often explore important social topics. She looks at issues like how children work in different countries. She also highlights the lives of women in developing countries.
In 2018, Stacey wrote her first book. It was called On the Front Line with the Women Who Fight Back. This book became a very popular seller. That same year, she won the TV show Strictly Come Dancing. She danced with her partner, Kevin Clifton. From 2019 to 2020, she hosted Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star. In 2024, Stacey performed on stage for the first time. Stacey Jaclyn Dooley was born in Luton, Bedfordshire. Her father was from Ireland. He left the family when Stacey was two years old. He passed away when Stacey was in her twenties. She grew up in Luton and went to Stopsley High School. Before becoming famous, she worked in shops. She sold perfumes at Luton Airport. She also worked in a hair salon.
Career
Early Work and Documentaries
Stacey Dooley first appeared on TV in April 2008. She traveled to India for a documentary series. It was called Blood, Sweat and T-shirts. Stacey and others were chosen to show typical fashion shoppers. Because of her interest in how people work in different countries, she got her own show.
Stacey Dooley Investigates started in August 2009. It showed two special episodes on BBC Three. These episodes also aired in Australia. In October 2010, she made two more programs. One was about young people who were once soldiers. This was in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The other was about difficult situations for young people in Cambodia.
In 2011, BBC Three aired Tourism and the Truth: Stacey Dooley Investigates. Stacey looked at how tourism affects workers in Thailand and Kenya. She also hosted the CBBC series Show Me What You're Made Of. This show had a spin-off called Show Me What You're Made Of UK.
In 2012, Stacey filmed My Hometown Fanatics in Luton. She interviewed different groups of people in her hometown. A three-part series called Coming Here Soon aired in 2012. Stacey explored the lives of young people in Greece, Ireland, and Japan. These countries were affected by a financial crisis. While in the United States, she made Stacey Dooley in the USA. In November 2016, Stacey appeared in Brainwashing Stacey. She visited different groups in the US and Africa. Stacey also made ... in Strange Places. For this, she traveled to Turkey, Brazil, and Russia. She explored different views on relationships. In December 2016, Stacey was stopped by police in Tokyo. In 2017, Stacey hosted CBBC's The Pets Factor. She also presented Canada's Lost Girls. She investigated why many Indigenous women had disappeared in Canada. Continued Success and New Adventures
In April 2018, Stacey took part in a BBC show. It celebrated the 70th birthday of the NHS. In the 2018 series of Stacey Dooley Investigates, she traveled to Russia, Florida, Iraq, and Hungary. She explored challenging topics. These included the impact of war and pollution in the fashion industry. She even met someone involved in conflict. For this work, she won a One World Media Award. These episodes were very popular on BBC iPlayer.
Stacey published her first book in February 2018. It was called Stacey Dooley, On the Front Line with the Women Who Fight Back. The book covered topics like helping people in difficult situations. In 2022, Stacey competed in The Masked Dancer. She performed as Prawn Cocktail.
