Stanley Tucci Jr. (born November 11, 1960) is an American actor and author. He is known for playing many different kinds of characters, from serious to funny. Stanley Tucci has won many awards, including six Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. He was also nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Tony Award.

Tucci first appeared in a movie called Prizzi's Honor in 1985. He then took on supporting roles in films like Deconstructing Harry (1997) and The Terminal (2004). He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in The Lovely Bones (2009). He also acted in popular movies such as The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Julie & Julia (2009), Easy A (2010), and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). He also appeared in The Hunger Games film series (2012–2015).

Stanley Tucci has also starred in many TV shows. These include the legal drama Murder One (1995–1997) and the limited series Feud: Bette & Joan (2017). Stanley Tucci was born on November 11, 1960, in Peekskill, New York. He grew up in a nearby town called Katonah, New York. His parents, Joan and Stanley Tucci Sr., were both of Italian descent. His mother was a secretary and writer, and his father was an art teacher. Stanley is the oldest of three children. His sister, Christine Tucci, is also an actress. His cousin, Joseph Tropiano, is a screenwriter. In the early 1970s, his family lived in Florence, Italy, for a year.

He went to John Jay High School. There, he played soccer and baseball. But his main interest was the school's drama club. He and his friend Campbell Scott (who is also an actor) performed well in many school plays. After high school, Tucci went to the State University of New York at Purchase. He studied acting and graduated in 1982.

Early Roles and Broadway

In 1982, Tucci started his professional acting career on Broadway. His friend's mother, actress Colleen Dewhurst, helped him get a part in a play called The Queen and the Rebels. Around this time, Tucci also worked as a model. He appeared in a TV commercial for Levi's jeans. In 1985, Tucci made his first movie appearance in Prizzi's Honor.

He continued to take on smaller roles in films. These included the movie Monkey Shines (1988) and the comedy Fear, Anxiety & Depression (1989). In 2006, Tucci had a big role in the comedy The Devil Wears Prada. He starred with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt. Tucci played Nigel Kipling, a helpful friend to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). This movie was a big success for him. A critic from The New York Times said, "Mr. Tucci, has never been better." This film was Tucci's highest-earning movie until Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. Also in 2006, Tucci appeared on the TV show Monk. He won an Emmy Award for this role.

In 2011, Tucci played Eric Dale in the drama film Margin Call. This movie was praised by critics and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 2012, Tucci released his first cookbook called The Tucci Cookbook.

From 2012 to 2015, Tucci played Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games (2012) and its sequels. These movies were The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015). In 2013, Tucci played the Ancient Greek God Dionysus in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. He also voiced a character in an episode of American Dad!. Personal Life

Family

Stanley Tucci married Kathryn Spath in 1995. She was a social worker. They had three children together. They also raised Kathryn's two children from her previous marriage. Kathryn passed away in 2009 at the age of 47.

In 2010, Tucci met Felicity Blunt. She is a British literary agent. They met at the wedding of actor John Krasinski to Felicity's sister, actress Emily Blunt. Stanley and Felicity got engaged in 2011 and married in 2012. They have a son and a daughter together.

Other Activities

On September 12, 2016, Tucci appeared in a video for the United Nations' refugee agency UNHCR. The video, called "What They Took With Them," aimed to raise awareness about the global refugee crisis.

On May 21, 2021, Tucci received an honorary degree from the American University of Rome in Italy. This was to recognize his contributions to the arts.

Health

In September 2021, Tucci shared that he had been diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer three years earlier. He received treatment, and doctors said it was unlikely the cancer would return. In November 2022, he mentioned that some foods are still difficult for him to eat because of his cancer treatment.

In October 2021, his book Taste: My Life Through Food was published. In this book, he writes about his experience with cancer and his love for food. The book was on The New York Times Best Seller List for many weeks.
