Steinhof was a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the canton of Solothurn. Steinhof was unique because it was an enclave. This means it was a piece of land completely surrounded by another canton, Bern. On January 1, 2012, Steinhof joined with the nearby town of Aeschi.

Steinhof was a small area, about 1.64 square kilometers. Imagine a square about 1.28 kilometers on each side. Most of this land, about 63.4%, was used for farming. Forests covered about 29.3% of the area. Buildings and roads took up about 6.1% of the land. A very small part, 0.6%, was rivers or lakes.

The village was part of the Wasseramt district. It was like a small island of Solothurn canton, completely surrounded by the Canton of Bern.
