Stellan John Skarsgård (born 13 June 1951) is a famous actor from Sweden. He has starred in many popular movies and TV shows. You might know him from big adventure films like the Pirates of the Caribbean series, where he played Bootstrap Bill Turner. He also appeared in the fun musical movie Mamma Mia!.
Stellan Skarsgård is also well-known for his roles in superhero movies. He played Dr. Erik Selvig in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including Thor and The Avengers. More recently, he played the powerful Baron Harkonnen in the science fiction movies Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024). Stellan Skarsgård was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. As a child, his family moved around a lot, living in different towns like Helsingborg and Uppsala.

Stellan began acting when he was very young. By the time he was 21, he already had a lot of experience in movies, TV, and on stage. Many of his first roles were in Swedish TV shows and films. One of his notable early roles was playing the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg in the film Good Evening, Mr. Wallenberg. Wallenberg was a hero who helped save many people during the Holocaust.

Stellan Skarsgård has eight children. Four of his sons, Alexander, Gustaf, Bill, and Valter, are also actors. His daughter Eija was a model. He married My Skarsgård in 1975, and they had six children before divorcing in 2007. In 2009, he married Megan Everett, and they have two sons together.

Stellan Skarsgård has won many awards for his acting. He received the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1982 for The Simple-Minded Murderer. He has also won several Guldbagge Awards, which are Sweden's national film awards, for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.
