Tabasco Chocolate facts for kids
Imagine a chocolate bar that's both sweet and a little bit spicy! That's what Tabasco Chocolate is all about. It's a special kind of dark chocolate that gets its kick from Tabasco brand red pepper flavoring. This unique sauce is made in the United States by a company called McIlhenny Company.
How Tabasco Began
The story of Tabasco sauce started a long time ago, in 1868. A man named Edmund McIlhenny created it. He was born in Maryland and later moved to Louisiana around 1840.
Edmund McIlhenny first shared his spicy sauce with his family and friends. He even used old cologne bottles to give it away! To make the sauce taste special, he would age red peppers for more than three years in wooden barrels. This long process helped create the unique flavor we know today. The peppers used are called Tabasco peppers, and they are grown right there in Louisiana. Over many years, Tabasco grew from a small idea into a huge brand sold almost everywhere in the world.
What's Inside and How It's Packaged
Tabasco chocolate comes in a cool red tin that looks like a circle. Inside, you'll find 1.75 ounces of chocolate, divided into eight small wedges. Sometimes, you can also find it in bigger cans that look like paint cans. These larger cans hold 120 separate chocolate wedges, each wrapped on its own.
More Than Just Sauce
Because the Tabasco brand is so well-known around the world, the company has created many other products. Besides the famous sauce and the chocolate, you can find things like Tabasco T-shirts and even mobile phone cases! It shows how popular this spicy flavor has become.
