List of hot sauces facts for kids
Hot sauce is a spicy condiment made from chili peppers and other ingredients. People use it to add a fiery kick to their food! This list shares information about some popular hot sauces you might find in stores.
The spiciness of hot sauce is often measured using something called the Scoville scale. This scale tells you how much capsaicin (the chemical that makes peppers hot) is in the sauce. A higher number means a hotter sauce! However, not all companies share the exact Scoville rating for their products. Sometimes, an "extra hot" version might be advertised as much hotter than the original, but without a specific number.
Also, some companies don't always say exactly which types of peppers they use. When labels say "pepper" or "aged pepper," it often means they've used a similar aged pepper mix.
