Taigum is surrounded by natural and man-made borders. Cabbage Tree Creek forms its western and northern edges. Muller Road is to the east, and Beams Road is to the south.

Taigum's Past: A Brief History

The area now known as Taigum started developing around 1853. It was part of a larger land division called Nundah. The name "Taigum" comes from an Aboriginal word for a plant called "lawyer cane." The name was officially recognized for the suburb on August 11, 1975.

Schools and Shopping Centres in Taigum

Zillmere North State School first opened its doors on January 29, 1957. Later, in 1993, its name was changed to Taigum State School.

The Taigum Square shopping centre opened in 1982. It was made bigger in 2001 to offer more shops and services.

Churches in Taigum

The St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church was founded on April 23, 1986. It was named after Paraskevi of Rome, a Christian saint. The church officially opened on December 10, 1995. It also hosts the Taigum Child Care Centre.

Centrepoint Church opened its Taigum location on May 30, 2021. This church is a second spot for the Centrepoint Church from Chermside.
