Fitzgibbon is a cool suburb located in the northern part of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In 2021, about 6,296 people lived here.

Exploring Fitzgibbon's Location

Fitzgibbon is one of the smaller suburbs in Brisbane. It's shaped a bit like a triangle. The suburb is bordered by the North Coast railway, Cabbage Tree Creek, and Telegraph Road. Most of the homes you see today were built in the 1980s and 1990s.

Fitzgibbon's Past

The suburb got its name from Abram Fitzgibbon. He was a very important engineer for Queensland's railways back in the 1860s.

Before houses were built, part of Fitzgibbon was used as a council landfill. This is a place where rubbish is buried. The first landfill opened in 1981 on Telegraph Road. This spot is now the Bill Brown Sports Reserve. In 1985, the landfill moved to Roghan Road. This area is now the Hidden World playground. It stopped being used as a landfill in 1995.

Holy Spirit College, a new school, opened its doors in 2022.

The community voted to name the pool after her!
