Takashi Tezuka (手塚 卓志, Tezuka Takashi, born November 17, 1960; also known as "TENTEN" (てんてん)) is a famous Japanese video game designer. He is also a director and producer. He works as a senior officer at Nintendo, a well-known video game company. He helps lead Nintendo's Entertainment Planning & Development division.
Takashi Tezuka's Gaming Journey
Takashi Tezuka joined Nintendo in April 1984. He had just finished studying design at Osaka University of Arts. Soon, he became a co-designer for some of Nintendo's most popular game series. These include the Mario games and The Legend of Zelda series.
Tezuka loves fantasy books, like The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. This love for fantasy helped him create the stories for the first The Legend of Zelda game and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
He also helped create the character Yoshi. Yoshi first appeared in Super Mario World. The idea for Mario to ride a dinosaur had been around since Super Mario Bros. 3, thanks to Shigeru Miyamoto.
Takashi Tezuka has said that he doesn't design games just for "casual" or "hardcore" players. He always tries to make games that everyone can enjoy. He truly loves his job of making games.
