Talent is a city located in Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. In 2020, about 6,282 people lived there.

History of Talent
Talent was founded by A. P. Tallent. He moved to Oregon in the 1870s. In the 1880s, he planned out the city. He wanted to call it Wagner. However, postal officials chose the name Talent, removing one "L" from his last name. The post office opened in 1883. Before this, the area was known as Eden District or Wagner Creek.
The 2020 Almeda Drive Fire
On September 8, 2020, a large fire called the Almeda Drive Fire caused a lot of damage. About one-third of Talent was destroyed. Nearby cities like Phoenix, and parts of Medford and Ashland were also affected.
Many homes and businesses were lost. By September 18, about 2,800 buildings were destroyed. Officials said the fire was started by a person. A man was arrested for starting a separate fire in Phoenix that joined the Almeda Drive Fire.
Geography of Talent
Talent covers an area of about 1.33 square miles (3.44 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
The city is south of Medford. It is located about halfway between Phoenix (to the north) and Ashland (to the south). Talent is along Interstate 5 and Oregon Route 99. This area is in the southern part of the Rogue River Valley. It is also close to the Siskiyou Mountains and the border with California.
Local Waterways and Trails
Wagner Creek flows through Talent. It is a smaller stream that joins Bear Creek. The creek was named after a family of early settlers. The Bear Creek Greenway is a popular trail for biking and hiking. It connects Talent with Ashland, Phoenix, Medford, and Central Point along Bear Creek.

Talent has warm to hot and dry summers. The average summer temperatures are usually above 81.6°F (27.6°C). The climate here is known as a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. This means it has mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers.
