Taskin Ahmed Tazim (born 3 April 1995) is a famous Bangladeshi cricketer. He is known for his fast bowling with his right arm. He also bats left-handed. Taskin plays for Dhaka Metropolis in local games. He also plays for the Rangpur Rangers in the Bangladesh Premier League. Taskin Ahmed made history as the first Bangladeshi cricketer to take 5 wickets in his very first ODI match.

Taskin's Cricket Journey
Starting Young
Taskin began playing cricket at Abahani playground on January 10, 2007. He played for the Bangladesh national under-15 and under-17 teams. Later, he joined the Bangladesh national under-19 cricket team. His first big game was for Dhaka Metropolis in October 2011.
Rising Star in Domestic Cricket
In the 2012 ICC Under-19 World Cup, Taskin was Bangladesh's top wicket-taker. He got 11 wickets in total. In 2013, during the BPL 2, he became "man of the match" in a semi-final game. He took 4 wickets for 31 runs. This was a big moment for his career.
In BPL 3, Taskin played for Chittagong Vikings. He became one of the most searched people in Bangladesh on Google that year. In October 2018, he joined the Sylhet Sixers team. He was their best wicket-taker, getting 22 wickets in 12 matches. In November 2019, he played for the Rangpur Rangers.
In November 2021, Taskin was chosen to play for the Colombo Stars in the 2021 Lanka Premier League. On January 2, 2025, he took 7 wickets for Durbar Rajshahi in a Bangladesh Premier League game. This was his best performance in T20 cricket. On January 20, 2025, he became the captain of Durbar Rajshahi. He is also the second bowler to reach 100 wickets in the BPL.
International Cricket Career
First Steps (2014-2015)
Taskin got his chance to play for the national team when another player was injured. He played his first T20 International (T20I) game on April 1, 2014. In that game, he took the wicket of Glenn Maxwell.
On June 17, 2014, he made his ODI debut against India. He took 5 wickets in that match. This made him the first Bangladeshi bowler to achieve this on an ODI debut.
Taskin was chosen for Bangladesh's team in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He played very well in the group stage. He took wickets against Afghanistan, Scotland, and England. These wickets helped Bangladesh reach the quarter-finals. In the quarter-final against India, he took three more wickets. He was Bangladesh's top wicket-taker in that World Cup. His special "Chest-bump" celebration with Mashrafe after taking wickets became famous.
Key Contributions (2015-2016)
Taskin helped Bangladesh win against Pakistan in April 2015. He also played a big part in their win against India in June 2015.
Challenges and Comeback (2016-2018)
In 2016, Taskin was part of Bangladesh's team for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. However, he was later stopped from bowling in international games. This was because his bowling action was found to be against the rules.
Taskin made his Test debut for Bangladesh on January 12, 2017. This was against New Zealand. He got his first Test wicket by dismissing Kane Williamson.
Recent Achievements (2021-2025)
In June 2021, Taskin was selected for Bangladesh's team for their tour to Zimbabwe. In the Test match against Zimbabwe, he scored 75 runs. This was his first half-century in Test cricket. He and Mahmudullah made a huge partnership of 191 runs. This was the second-highest partnership for the ninth wicket in Test cricket history. Taskin's 75 runs were also the highest score by a Bangladeshi number 10 batsman in an away match.
In September 2021, he was chosen for Bangladesh's team for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, he took 8 wickets in 5 matches. This made him Bangladesh's top wicket-taker in that tournament.
In March 2023, Taskin played against Ireland. He took 4 wickets for only 16 runs in a T20 game. This was his best T20I bowling performance. In September 2023, he was picked for Bangladesh's team for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
In May 2024, he was named in Bangladesh's team for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. On January 12, 2025, he was also selected for Bangladesh's team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Bowling Speed
Taskin is known for his fast bowling. During the 2022 T20 World Cup, he bowled a delivery at 149.56 kilometers per hour (km/h). This was faster than the previous record for a Bangladeshi bowler, which was 148 km/h. Taskin often bowls around 140 km/h.
However, this record was later broken by Nahid Rana. Nahid bowled at 152 km/h against Pakistan in 2024.
About Taskin's Life
Taskin's parents are Abdur Rashid and Sabina Yasmin. He finished his schooling at King Khaled Institute and Stamford College. He then studied at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
In November 2017, Taskin married Sayeda Rabeya Nayeem, who was his childhood friend. Their first child was born on September 30, 2018.
