Terrance Jamar Gore, born on June 8, 1991, is an American former professional baseball player. He played as an outfielder. Terrance played college baseball at Gulf Coast Community College. He made his first appearance in Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2014 with the Kansas City Royals. He also played for the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and New York Mets.

Terrance was known as one of the fastest players in baseball. He was mostly used as a pinch runner, which means he would run for another player who got on base. Because of his speed, teams often added him to their rosters late in the season. This happened especially if they were trying to win a championship. He was part of three teams that won the World Series: the Royals in 2015, the Dodgers in 2020, and the Braves in 2021.

Early Life and College Baseball

Terrance grew up in Macon, Georgia. He went to Jones County High School where he was a star in both baseball and American football. In his senior year of high school, he ran for over 1,000 yards in football. In baseball, he stole 145 bases during his four years. He also hit very well, with a .474 batting average in his senior year.

After high school, Terrance chose to play baseball at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida. He turned down football scholarships from big universities like the University of Georgia. In his one season at Gulf Coast, he hit .330 and stole 51 bases out of 54 tries. This showed how incredibly fast he was.

Professional Baseball Career

Kansas City Royals (First Time)

The Kansas City Royals picked Terrance in the 20th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. This was after his time at Gulf Coast Community College.

During the 2014 season, Terrance thought about quitting baseball. He was starting a family and felt his career was not moving forward. However, people like Royals special assistant Mike Sweeney encouraged him to keep playing. In August 2014, he was moved up to the Omaha Storm Chasers. His main job there was to focus on pinch-running and stealing bases.

On August 31, 2014, Terrance was called up to the Royals' main team. He became one of the few players in MLB history to wear the number 0. He was mostly used as a special pinch runner. In 2015, he was on the Royals' roster for the first two rounds of the playoffs. Even though he was not on the World Series roster, he still received a World Series ring when the Royals won. The Royals let him go in December 2017, but he signed a new minor league contract with them the next day.

Chicago Cubs

On August 15, 2018, Terrance was traded to the Chicago Cubs. He was sent to their Triple-A team, the Iowa Cubs. He was called up to the major leagues on September 1. On September 8, he got his first major league hit. This happened in a game against the Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer. After the season, he became a free agent on November 2.

Kansas City Royals (Second Time)

Terrance signed a one-year contract to return to the Royals on December 18, 2018. Even though he was hitting .275 and had stolen 13 bases, the Royals removed him from their main roster on July 12, 2019.

New York Yankees

On July 17, 2019, Terrance was traded to the New York Yankees. He then played for their Triple-A team, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. He became a free agent again on November 4 after the season ended.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Terrance signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on February 17, 2020. He was added to the team's roster for Opening Day. He played in two games for the Dodgers, mostly as a defensive player or pinch runner. He was later removed from the main roster.

On September 30, Terrance was added to the Dodgers' playoff roster for the Wild Card Series. He did not play in those games but stayed on the roster for the next round. The Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts, said that Terrance's speed was very important. Even though he did not play in any playoff games, he received a World Series ring when the Dodgers won in 2020. This was his second World Series ring. He became a free agent on November 2.

Atlanta Braves

On February 25, 2021, Terrance signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves. He played for their Triple-A team, the Gwinnett Stripers. He hit .232 and stole 18 bases.

On October 8, 2021, Terrance was named to the Braves' playoff roster for the NLDS. He appeared once as a pinch runner in that series. He was later removed from the roster for the next round of the playoffs. However, he returned to the World Series roster. The Braves won the 2021 World Series, which was their first championship since 1995. This gave Terrance his third World Series ring. He became a free agent on November 7, 2021.

New York Mets

On June 6, 2022, Terrance signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets. He was added to their main roster on August 31. On November 10, he was removed from the team's main roster and became a free agent the same day.
