What is SuperFriends About?
This version of Super Friends often used old stories and classic fairy tales for its plots. For example, one episode called "The Lord of Middle Earth" was inspired by the famous book The Lord of the Rings. In this episode, the SuperFriends travel to Middle-earth to save people from a bad wizard.
The show also sometimes took ideas from real-world events happening at the time. For instance, the main villain Kareem Azar in "Rub Three Times for Disaster" was inspired by a real-life leader.
Some fans call this season the "Absentee Super Friends season." This is because some heroes only appear for a short time, or not at all, in certain episodes.
- In "Rub Three Times For Disaster," the whole team appears.
- In "Lex Luthor Strikes Back," the Wonder Twins (Zan & Jayna) are only seen briefly. They spend most of the episode visiting their home planet.
- "Space Knights of Camelon" features the full group.
- In "Lord of Middle Earth," the Wonder Twins are mostly absent.
- "Universe of Evil" shows evil versions of the Wonder Twins only in one group shot.
- In "Terror At 20,000 Fathoms," Superman has a quick appearance. Wonder Woman is mentioned but not seen.
- "The SuperFriends Meet Frankenstein" does not feature Aquaman or the Wonder Twins. They are said to be visiting Atlantis.
- In "The Planet of Oz," Batman, Robin, and the Wonder Twins are only seen at the very beginning and end.
Meet the SuperFriends Heroes

- Wonder Woman – She continued to appear in her animated form even after her live-action TV show ended.
