Theodore is a community in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. It is not a city but a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts as a specific place for population studies. In 2020, about 6,270 people lived there. Theodore is part of the larger Mobile metropolitan area. Before the 1900s, this area was called "Clements." It was later named after William Theodore Hieronymous, who ran a sawmill and was the local postmaster.

Where is Theodore Located?
Theodore is found in the southern part of Mobile County. It is near the city of Mobile. The original center of Theodore is now actually inside Mobile's city limits. To the northwest, Theodore borders Tillmans Corner.
How Big is Theodore?
Interstate 10 forms the boundary between Theodore and Tillmans Corner. You can get to Theodore from Exit 13 (Theodore Dawes Road) on I-10. This highway goes northeast about 14 miles (23 km) to downtown Mobile. It also goes west about 27 miles (43 km) to the Pascagoula, Mississippi, area. The Theodore CDP covers a total area of about 8.0 square miles (20.7 square kilometers). Only a tiny part of this area, about 0.002 square miles (0.005 square kilometers), is water.
