Rawls set a new record for Flint by rushing for 458 yards and eight touchdowns in one game. This broke a record previously held by Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram II. He was chosen for the All-State team. He also won Most Valuable Player in his league.

College Football Journey
Playing for Michigan
Rawls decided to play for the University of Michigan in 2011. He hoped to break the rushing records set by his favorite player, Mike Hart. He wanted to make a big impact as a freshman.
In his first year (2011), he played in 10 games. He had his best game against Minnesota, rushing for 73 yards. Experts thought he would do even better in 2012.
However, Rawls did not play as much in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, he only carried the ball three times all season.
Transfer to Central Michigan
In 2014, Rawls moved to Central Michigan University. He played his senior year for the Chippewas. On September 6, 2014, he rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns. This helped Central Michigan win against Purdue.
Rawls felt the team depended on him. He said this pressure made him run even harder. The coaches trusted him to perform well.
He missed one game for unknown reasons. But when he returned, he had amazing games. He rushed for 229 yards against Ohio and 270 yards against Northern Illinois. He carried the ball 40 times in each of those games.
Rawls finished the season with 1,103 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He played in seven of the team's 13 games. He was seen as a player who might be picked late in the 2015 NFL draft.
