Thorneside is a lovely coastal town in Queensland, Australia. It's part of the City of Redland area. In 2021, about 3,877 people lived here.

Where is Thorneside Located?

Thorneside is located right next to the water! To the north-east, it touches Waterloo Bay, which is part of the bigger Moreton Bay. On its western side, you'll find Tingalpa Creek.

The very northern tip of Thorneside is called Mooroondu Point. This point sticks out into the bay, right where the creek meets the water.

How to Get Around Thorneside

The Cleveland railway line runs through Thorneside. It comes in from the west (near Ransome) and leaves towards the south-east (towards Birkdale).

You can catch a train at the Thorneside railway station, which is right in the middle of the town. Most of the houses in Thorneside are built around Thorneside Road and Mooroondu Road.

A Brief History of Thorneside

Thorneside got its name from the local railway station. The station was first called "Thorne's siding." This name came from a person named William Thorne.

William Thorne bought a lot of land in the area back in 1913. At that time, the land was known as "Thorne's estate."
