Thulimbah is a small country town in Queensland, Australia. It is located in the Southern Downs Region. In 2021, about 351 people lived in Thulimbah. The town is close to the border with New South Wales.

Where is Thulimbah?

Thulimbah is found in an area called the Darling Downs. The main road, the New England Highway, goes right through the town. It is about 206 kilometers (128 miles) southwest of Brisbane. Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland.

Thulimbah's Past

The name Thulimbah comes from an Aboriginal language. It means "place of water." This name was first used for the local railway station in 1883.

School History

Bentinck State School first opened its doors on September 28, 1914. It was later renamed Thulimbah State School on August 30, 1916. A preschool was added to the school in 1976.

A Confusing Name

Long ago, there was another place in Queensland also called Thulimbah. This caused a lot of confusion for people. To fix this, the other district was renamed Barney View in 1916. It was given this new name because it was located next to Mount Barney.
