Timothy Edward Lee Hague (May 9, 1983 – June 18, 2017) was a Canadian athlete. He was known for competing in mixed martial arts (MMA) and boxing. He fought in the heavyweight division, which is for athletes weighing up to 265 pounds. Tim Hague started his professional fighting career in 2006. He was once the King of the Cage Canada Heavyweight Champion. Sadly, he passed away on June 18, 2017, after a boxing match.

Early Life and Education
Tim Hague was born on May 9, 1983. Before he became a professional fighter, he was a teacher. He taught elementary school at École Bellevue School in Beaumont, Alberta. Tim had a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana University College. He also earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta.
His Passing
Tim Hague passed away on June 18, 2017. This happened after he got a serious brain injury during a boxing match. The match was against Adam Braidwood in Edmonton, Alberta. Tim was 34 years old when he died. After his death, Edmonton city council put a one-year ban on combat sports. This ban was later lifted on January 23, 2018.

Mixed Martial Arts Journey
Tim Hague started his MMA career in 2006. His first fight was against Eric MacDonald. Tim won this fight by using a submission move called a guillotine choke. He won his next three fights too. In only his fifth fight, he won the King of the Cage Canada heavyweight title. His first loss was a close decision against Miodrag Petkovic. Later, he got a rematch and won against Petkovic.
Fighting in the UFC
Tim Hague joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2009. His first UFC fight was at UFC 98 against Pat Barry. Tim surprised everyone by winning with a guillotine choke in the first round.
At UFC 102, Tim fought Todd Duffee. He lost this fight very quickly, in just 7 seconds. This was one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history at the time. Tim then fought Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 109. He lost this fight by a close decision. Many people, including commentator Joe Rogan, thought the decision was unfair. After this loss, Tim was released from the UFC.
Tim returned to the UFC for one more fight at UFC 113. He stepped in to fight Joey Beltran. Tim lost this fight by a unanimous decision. His last UFC fight was against Matt Mitrione at UFC Fight Night 23. He lost by TKO in the first round. After this, he left the UFC with a record of 1 win and 4 losses in the promotion.
After the UFC
After leaving the UFC, Tim Hague continued to fight in other promotions. He signed a deal with The Fight Club in Edmonton. He also fought in regional promotions like AMMA and Prestige FC. He had some big wins, including knockouts against Zak Jensen and Travis Wiuff.
In 2013, Tim announced he would return to fighting. He faced former UFC fighter Kalib Starnes and lost by decision. He also fought for Unified MMA and World Series of Fighting. He won the Unified MMA Heavyweight Championship in 2015. His final MMA fight was in 2016 against Michał Andryszak, where he lost by knockout.
Boxing Career
Tim Hague also competed in professional boxing. His first boxing match was on December 9, 2011. He won this fight by knocking out Patrick Graham. After a break, he returned to boxing in 2016. He had two more matches that year, losing both. His last boxing match was on June 16, 2017, against Adam Braidwood.
