Team History
The club started in 1953. It was first created by teachers in Tochigi Prefecture. They called themselves Tochigi Teachers' Soccer Club.
In 1994, the club welcomed players from all jobs. They changed their name to Tochigi Soccer Club. In 1999, Tochigi won the Kanto Regional League. They then moved up to the Japan Football League.
The club wanted to become a professional team. In 2007, they became a "J.League Associate Member". This was a step towards joining the main professional league. By 2008, they were ready to become a professional team.
Tochigi SC officially joined the J.League on December 1, 2008. From 2009, they played in J.League Division 2.
In 2015, Tochigi SC finished last in J2. They were moved down to the J3 League. This was the first time they played at the third professional level. After two seasons, they moved back up to the J2 League in 2018.
On October 27, 2024, Tochigi SC was moved down to the J3 League again. This happened after they lost a game to Shimizu S-Pulse. They had been in the J2 League for seven years.
