Tokata Iron Eyes (born around 2003 or 2004) is a young Native American activist. She is a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. Tokata was a youth leader for "ReZpect our Water", a group working against the Dakota Access Pipeline. She also helped lead a group focused on sustainable energy called Indigenized Energy. Tokata Iron Eyes is also known for her singing and songwriting.

About Tokata's Life
Tokata Iron Eyes is the child of Chase Iron Eyes and Sara Jumping Eagle. Her father is an activist, lawyer, and politician. Her mother is a doctor and also an environmental activist.
Tokata went to the Red Cloud Indian School on the Pine Ridge Reservation. She also studied at Bard College at Simon's Rock.
In 2022, her father shared that Tokata is nonbinary. She uses she or they pronouns.
Tokata's Activism Work
Tokata Iron Eyes started her activism at a young age. When she was 9, she spoke out against a uranium mine in the Black Hills.
Speaking Out for Water
At age 12, Tokata made a video that became very popular. In the video, she asked people to take action against the Dakota Access Pipeline. This video helped start a social media campaign called "Rezpect Our Water."
Meeting Greta Thunberg
In September 2019, Tokata met the youth climate activist Greta Thunberg. They met at George Washington University. Tokata invited Greta to visit her homelands.
The two activists held several rallies together. They traveled through North Dakota and South Dakota in October 2019. They spoke at places like Red Cloud Indian School and Standing Rock High School. They also spoke at a Youth Climate Activism Panel in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Tokata also joined the board of a new group. This group is called Indigenized Energy. It works on creating sustainable energy for communities.
Awards and Special Recognition
In January 2020, Tokata Iron Eyes was featured on Disney+. She appeared in an episode of Marvel's Hero Project. Her episode was titled "Thrilling Tokata."
In May 2020, she was named one of the Ms. Foundation's 2020 Women of Vision. She also received the Peggy C. Charren Free to Be You and Me Award.
