Rugrats is a popular American animated TV show. It was created by Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó, and Paul Germain for Nickelodeon. The show first aired on August 11, 1991. It became very successful and ran until August 1, 2004.
The series is about the daily lives and adventures of a group of babies. We see the world through their eyes. Rugrats was the very first Nicktoon ever made!

Meet the Rugrats Characters
This show has many fun characters. Most of the stories follow the babies and their families.
The Babies
- Tommy Pickles is the main character. He is brave and loves adventures. He often leads the other babies.
- Chuckie Finster is Tommy's best friend. He is a bit older, usually 2 or 3 years old. Chuckie has red hair and wears glasses. He is often scared, but he always joins his friends.
- Phil and Lil DeVille are twins. They are very adventurous and love to explore. They are known for digging and sometimes eating insects and earthworms!
- Dil Pickles is Tommy's baby brother. He was born in The Rugrats Movie. He is still very young and mostly just makes baby noises.
- Kimi Finster is Chuckie's playful stepsister. She first appeared in Rugrats in Paris: The Movie. She is very energetic and loves fun.
Older Kids
- Angelica Pickles is Tommy's older cousin. She is often the main "bad guy" in the show. Angelica is bossy and loves to play tricks on the babies.
- Susie Carmichael is Angelica's schoolmate and best friend. Susie is kind and smart. She often stands up for the babies against Angelica.
The Grown-Ups
The show also features the babies' parents. They are often busy or distracted. This allows the babies to go on their many adventures without being noticed.

Rugrats won many awards during its time on air. It was recognized for being a great animated show for children.
- The show won several Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
- It also won multiple Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Cartoon.
- In 2001, Rugrats even got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! This is a huge honor for any TV show.
