Anthony Terrell Smith (born March 3, 1966), known as Tone Lōc, is an American rapper. He is famous for his deep, raspy voice. His hit songs include "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina". He was even nominated for a Grammy Award for his music. Tone Lōc also appeared in "We're All in the Same Gang" with other West Coast rappers.

Early Life of Tone Lōc
Anthony Terrell Smith was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 3, 1966. His mother, Margaret, managed a retirement home. His father, James Smith, passed away in 1972.
After his father's death, Tone Lōc and his three older brothers were raised by their mother. He attended the Hollywood Professional School. As a teenager, he started performing with a rap group called Triple A.
Tone Lōc's Music Career
Tone Lōc's first album, Lōc-ed After Dark, came out in January 1989. The music video for his first song, "Wild Thing", was played a lot on MTV. This song became very popular, reaching number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also made it into the top twenty in Australia.
His second song, "Funky Cold Medina", was also a big hit. It reached number 3 in the U.S. and was popular in Australia and the UK. The album Lōc-ed After Dark went to number 1 in the U.S. It has sold over two million copies.
Tone Lōc's second album, Cool Hand Lōc, was released in November 1991. The first song from this album was "All Through the Night". It did well, reaching number 80 on the Billboard Hot 100. He also sang "If I'm Gonna Eat Somebody" for the movie FernGully.
Tone Lōc in Movies and TV Shows
Tone Lōc has acted in many movies. He played police Sergeant Emilio in the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). His song "Ace Is in the House" was featured in this movie and in Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective (2009).
He also provided his voice for animated characters. He was the voice of Fūd Wrapper, a character at Epcot from 1994 to 2004. He sang a funny song called "Always Read the Wrapper" for this role.
Tone Lōc has appeared in films like Poetic Justice, Blank Check, and Heat. As a voice actor, he voiced characters in TV shows such as King of the Hill and C Bear and Jamal. He was also the voice of Pee Wee in the animated movie Bebe's Kids. He voiced Lou the Goanna in the 1992 film FernGully: The Last Rainforest. More recently, he voiced characters in Chowder and Uncle Grandpa. In 2022, he was the singing voice for Penny Proud in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

Since April 2016, Tone Lōc has been part of the I Love the 90s Tour. This tour performs worldwide and brings together many popular artists from the 1990s. He also performed on the I Love the 90s: The Party Continues Tour in 2017.

Tone Lōc has experienced some health challenges over the years. He has collapsed on stage several times during performances. These incidents have been linked to seizures.
