Tony Haynes: A Music Creator
Tony Haynes started his amazing career in music in 1981. He began by writing songs with Al McKay and David Bryant. Al McKay had just left the famous band Earth, Wind & Fire.
Early Songs and Collaborations
Al McKay helped Tony Haynes get started by signing him to a music publishing deal. Tony and David Bryant wrote songs like "Send A Little Love" for The Spinners. They also wrote "Sayonara" for A Taste of Honey. Other songs they created were "Lovers" and "You Owe It All To Love" for Finis Henderson.
Tony Haynes also wrote songs for Japanese singers like Naoko Kawai and Hiromi Iwasaki with Erich Bulling. In 1982, he started working with Maurice White, who was also from Earth, Wind & Fire. This led to "The Speed Of Love" on Earth, Wind & Fire's album Powerlight. This was Tony's first gold album! He also wrote songs for Philip Bailey's solo albums, like "Trapped" and "The Good Guy's Supposed To Get The Girls."

In 1984, Tony Haynes started writing lyrics for many different projects. He wrote "Drive Me Wild" for the popular TV show Fame. He also worked with Japanese composer Keisuke Kuwata from the band Southern All Stars.
Tony Haynes also teamed up with Louis Johnson, a bassist from the band Brothers Johnson. They wrote eight songs together for Johnson's album Evolution. During this time, Tony's songs were recorded by many artists. For example, "Runnin'" was recorded by The Temptations on their album Truly for You.

In 1985, Tony Haynes co-wrote "Hyperactive" with Robert Palmer. This song was on the album Riptide, which sold millions of copies! It was Tony's first multi-platinum album. The song also appeared in the movie The Bedroom Window.
From 1985 to 1989, Tony Haynes was a very popular lyricist. He had a top ten hit with "Under the Influence" for Vanity. He also wrote songs for Patrice Rushen, The Pointer Sisters, Bobby Brown, and Kool & The Gang.
Number-One Success
Tony Haynes achieved his first number-one song in 1989. It was called "She's On the Left" and was recorded by Jeffrey Osborne. This song was a big hit and appeared on Osborne's album One Love, One Dream. Tony co-wrote it with Spud Blanson, Jeffrey Osborne, and Robert Brookins.
His songs also appeared in movies. "Make It My Night" was in the film Fatal Beauty, and "Be The One" was in My Stepmother Is an Alien.
