Keith Douglas Washington, born on November 15, 1960, is an American R&B singer from Detroit. He is well-known for his hit song "Kissing You" which came out in 1991. This song was even used as background music on the TV show General Hospital. "Kissing You" was nominated for a Grammy Award and won a Soul Train Music Award in 1992. It also reached the top of the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Keith Washington's Early Career and Music
Before becoming a famous singer himself, Keith Washington was a talented songwriter. He helped write "Hey Lover," a popular R&B song for Freddie Jackson in 1988.
First Album and Hit Songs
Within three years, Keith Washington signed a record deal as a solo artist. He released his first album, Make Time for Love, in 1991. This album included "Kissing You" and other successful R&B songs.
He also recorded a duet with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue in 1991. Their song, "If You Were with Me Now," reached number 4 on the music charts in the UK and number 23 in Australia.
Later Albums
Keith Washington's next album, You Make It Easy, came out in 1993. His third album, KW, was released five years later in 1998.
Acting Roles and Radio Career
Besides singing, Keith Washington also tried acting.
TV Appearances
He appeared as himself on the TV series Martin. In one episode, he sang a duet called "The Closer I Get to You" with Tisha Campbell-Martin. This song was originally made famous by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Keith also had a small part in the TV soap opera General Hospital.
Movie Role
He had a brief role in John Singleton's movie Poetic Justice, where he played a hairdresser named Dexter.
Personal Life and Radio Show
In June 2009, Keith Washington married his longtime girlfriend, Stephanie Grimes. She works as a general sales manager for a radio station in Detroit. Keith has also started working in radio himself. He hosts a nighttime "Slow Jams" show called "Kisses After Dark" on Detroit radio station WDMK-FM 105.9 (Kiss-FM).
