Patricia Lynn Yearwood (born September 19, 1964) is a famous American country singer. She became well-known in 1991 with her first song, "She's in Love with the Boy". This song became a number one hit on the Billboard country music chart. Her first album, also called Trisha Yearwood, sold over two million copies.

Trisha continued to have many big country hits throughout the 1990s. Some of these popular songs included "The Woman Before Me" (1991), "Walkaway Joe" (1992), and "How Do I Live" (1997). Her album (Songbook) A Collection of Hits (1997) sold four million copies.

Later, Trisha Yearwood took a break from music to focus on other things. She wrote three successful cookbooks that became best-sellers. In 2012, she started her own cooking show on the Food Network called Trisha's Southern Kitchen. This show even won a Daytime Emmy Award. Trisha has sold over 15 million records around the world. She has won many awards, including three Grammy Awards. Since 2005, she has been married to country singer Garth Brooks. They have often sung together.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Trisha Yearwood was born in Monticello, Georgia. Her mother, Gwendolyn, was a schoolteacher, and her father, Jack, was a banker. Trisha loved music from a young age. She sang in school talent shows, church events, and musicals.

After high school, Trisha studied business at Young Harris College for two years. Then, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1985. She went to Belmont College to study music business.

Trisha got an internship at MTM Records. She later became a full-time employee. She recorded demo tapes and sang background vocals for new artists. One of these artists was Garth Brooks. They became friends, and Brooks promised to help her get a record deal if his career took off. Brooks introduced her to his producer, Allen Reynolds, who then connected her with producer Garth Fundis.

In 1990, a producer named Tony Brown heard Trisha sing and was very impressed. He helped her sign a record deal with MCA Nashville. After signing, she opened for Garth Brooks on his 1991 tour.

Breakthrough Success in 1991

Trisha Yearwood's first album, Trisha Yearwood, came out in 1991. Her first song from the album, "She's in Love with the Boy", quickly became a number one hit on the Billboard country chart. This brought her huge success.

Three other songs from the album also reached the top ten: "Like We Never Had a Broken Heart", "The Woman Before Me", and "That's What I Like About You". Her first album sold over two million copies. Trisha was the first female country artist to sell a million copies of her first album. Critics praised the album, calling it a "classy debut." In 1991, she won Top New Female Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music.

Growing Her Career (1992–1996)

In 1992, Trisha released her second album, Hearts in Armor. She chose songs that reflected her feelings after her first divorce. The album was different from her first, with more ballads and collaborations with artists like Don Henley and Emmylou Harris. Critics loved the album, calling it "stunning."

The album's first two songs, "Wrong Side of Memphis" and "Walkaway Joe" (with Don Henley), reached the top ten. Hearts in Armor later sold over a million copies.

Trisha's third album, The Song Remembers When, came out in 1993. The title song reached number two on the country chart. This album also featured collaborations with artists like Willie Nelson. In 1994, she released her first Christmas album, The Sweetest Gift.

Big Crossover Success (1997–2001)

In 1997, Trisha released her first greatest hits album, (Songbook) A Collection of Hits. This album became her first to reach number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. It also reached number four on the overall Billboard 200 chart.

The album included three new songs. "How Do I Live" was the first single and was featured in the movie Con Air. This song was a huge success, reaching number two on the country chart and number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Another song, "In Another's Eyes" (a duet with Garth Brooks), reached number two. "Perfect Love" became a number one hit in early 1998. Songbook became Trisha's best-selling album, selling four million copies.

In 1998, Trisha released Where Your Road Leads. This album included more top ten hits like "There Goes My Baby". She also sang with Luciano Pavarotti to help children in Liberia. In 1999, she became a member of the famous Grand Ole Opry.

After her second divorce, Trisha released Real Live Woman in 2000. This album reflected her feelings during that time. In 2001, she released Inside Out, which included collaborations with Don Henley and Vince Gill. The song "I Would've Loved You Anyway" from this album reached number four on the country chart.

New Directions and Albums (2002–2016)

After 2001, Trisha spent time with her family and started a relationship with Garth Brooks. In 2005, she released Jasper County, her first album in four years. The album was named after her home county in Georgia. It received positive reviews and became her third album to reach number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. It also sold 117,000 copies in its first week. The song "Georgia Rain" became a top 15 hit.

In 2007, Trisha signed with Big Machine Records. She released her tenth album, Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love, in November 2007. This album was highly praised by critics. The title song reached number 19 on the country chart.

Trisha took a break from solo music to focus on her cooking show and cookbooks. However, she remained active in music. From 2009 to 2014, she performed with Garth Brooks in his Las Vegas show, Garth at Wynn. She also joined him on The Garth Brooks World Tour starting in 2014.

In 2014, she released PrizeFighter: Hit After Hit, which included new versions of her hits and some new songs. The title song featured Kelly Clarkson. In late 2018, Trisha released Let's Be Frank, an album of songs originally sung by Frank Sinatra. She recorded it live with an orchestra. The album reached number two on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart.

Soon after, Trisha announced her twelfth studio album, Every Girl, which was her first album of new original songs in over twelve years. The first song, "Every Girl in This Town", was released in June 2019 and had the highest chart debut of her career. Every Girl was released in August 2019 and featured collaborations with Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, and Don Henley. The album received great reviews. Trisha went on her first solo tour in six years to support the album.

To celebrate her 30th career anniversary, Trisha released a special edition of Every Girl in August 2021. It included an acoustic version of "She's in Love with the Boy" and new songs like "I Dare You to Love" and "Shallow", a duet with Garth Brooks.

In 1997, Trisha Yearwood began a recurring role on the CBS military drama JAG. She played Lieutenant Commander Teresa Coulter, a Navy doctor. She appeared on the show until 2002. In the 1999 movie Stuart Little, Trisha sang the song "You're Where I Belong". She also guest-starred in the TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman in 1994.

Trisha Yearwood married her first husband, Chris Latham, in 1987. They divorced in 1991. In 1994, she married Robert Reynolds, a musician from the band The Mavericks. They divorced in 1999. Trisha said that divorcing was "difficult" because it's hard to move on from someone you care about.

Trisha and Garth Brooks were friends and musical partners before they started dating. Garth Brooks has said that when he first met Trisha, he felt like he had met his wife. At that time, both Trisha and Garth were married to other people, so they remained friends. After both of their divorces, they began dating around 2000.

They got engaged in 2005 when Garth proposed to Trisha on stage in front of 7,000 people. They married on December 10, 2005, at their home in Owasso, Oklahoma. Garth's three children were part of the wedding.

Trisha and Garth have made a promise not to spend much time apart. Trisha estimates they are only apart about five days a year. She explained that they decided they didn't want to be apart, so they make it a priority to stay together. Trisha became a stepmother to Garth's three children after they married. She has said that being a stepmother has been a very rewarding part of her life.
