Twin Rocks is a charming, small community located right on the beautiful Oregon Coast. It's in Tillamook County, Oregon, and is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local city government.
Twin Rocks got its name from two very tall rocks that stand about 100 feet (30 m) high in the Pacific Ocean just offshore. This area was first started as a fun place for people to visit in the summer, like a seaside resort.

Twin Rocks is a unique spot on the Oregon Coast, famous for its natural beauty. It's a quiet place where visitors can enjoy the ocean and the peaceful surroundings.
The Story Behind the Name
The most striking feature of Twin Rocks is, of course, the two giant rocks in the ocean. These rocks are a landmark and are what gave the community its name. They stand tall against the waves, creating a memorable view for everyone who visits.
Early Days and the Post Office
Twin Rocks began as a popular summer getaway. People would come here to enjoy the beach and the fresh ocean air. To help the growing community, a post office was opened in 1914. The very first person in charge of the mail was William E. Dunsmoor. The post office served the community for many years before it closed in 1954.
Location and Nearby Communities
Twin Rocks is nestled between two other small communities in Tillamook County: Barview and Watseco. These three places are all found along a 3-mile (5 km) stretch of U.S. Route 101. This main highway runs along the coast, connecting Twin Rocks to bigger cities like Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi.
Twin Rocks Friends Camp
A special part of the Twin Rocks community is the Twin Rocks Friends Camp. This camp was started way back in 1918. It has been a place for people to gather, learn, and have fun for over a hundred years.
Twin Rocks in Popular Culture
Twin Rocks even inspired a song! The folk singer Shawn Mullins wrote a song called Twin Rocks, Oregon. You can find this song on his 1998 album, Soul's Core. It shows how this small coastal community has left an impression on artists.
