Uhuru A. "Joby" Hamiter (born March 14, 1973) is a former American professional football player. He played as a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). Hamiter was part of the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles teams. He also played college football at Delaware State University. Besides the NFL, Hamiter played for other teams like the New Jersey Rage and the England Monarchs. He was also briefly with the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans.

Early Life and High School Football
Uhuru Hamiter grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went to Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational Technical School. In high school, he played high school football as a wide receiver. He was a key player for his team, the Mastbaum Panthers.
Hamiter helped lead Mastbaum to a big win. They won their first ever Public League Championship in football. He played alongside teammates Marc Baxter and Barry Williams. Hamiter was also a talented basketball player for the Panthers.
College Years and Beyond
After high school, Hamiter played college football for the Delaware State Hornets. He played for three seasons, from 1992 to 1994. After college, he took a break from football. He worked as a security officer. This job was at the Ferris Juvenile Detention Center in New Castle, Delaware.
Professional Football Career
Uhuru Hamiter started his professional football journey in semi-pro football. He played for a team called the New Jersey Rage.
Playing in NFL Europe
Hamiter then moved on to play in NFL Europe. This was a league that helped players develop their skills. He joined the England Monarchs for the 1998 season. He played in ten games for the Monarchs. During that season, he recorded seven sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback. His seven sacks ranked him fourth best in the league that year.
Time with NFL Teams
After his time in NFL Europe, Hamiter joined the Philadelphia Eagles. He signed with them on June 19, 1998. However, he was released by the team later that year.
He then became a member of the New Orleans Saints. He played for the Saints from 1998 to 1999. He appeared in five games for them during the 1999 season.
Hamiter returned to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2000. He played in seven games for the Eagles that year. He was released by the team again in August 2001.
He briefly signed with the Chicago Bears in August 2001. But he was released by them just a few days later.
Hamiter rejoined the Eagles for a third time in December 2001. He played in one game for them during the 2001 season.
His last NFL stop was with the Houston Texans. He signed with them in May 2002. He was released by the Texans in August 2002.
