Union Springs is a small village in Cayuga County, New York, United States. In 2020, about 1,075 people lived there. The village gets its name from the mineral springs found nearby. Union Springs is located in the western part of the town of Springport. It is also southwest of the city of Auburn.

Village History
Union Springs is located south of the village of Cayuga. It is also north of a former village of the Cayuga people, called Gwau-gwah. This native village later became a Jesuit mission. In 1779, the Gwau-gwah village was a target during the Sullivan Expedition. After this war, a special area was set aside for the Cayuga people who returned. However, they gave up their land rights before the year 1800. The village of Union Springs officially became a village in 1848.
The mineral springs near Union Springs were very important. They helped the village become a popular health spa. People would visit for the healing properties of the water.
Local Government
In 2023, Bud Shattuck was the mayor of Union Springs. His term ended in March 2023. Robert Thurston Jr. then ran for mayor without anyone running against him. He was elected in March of that year for a two-year term.
Notable Buildings and Schools
Union Springs is home to Union Springs Academy. This is a Seventh-day Adventist boarding school. Students live at the school while they study.
Several historic houses in Union Springs are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are important for their history or architecture.

- The Almeron Durkee House, Charles Howland-William H. Chase House, and William Richardson House were added in 2005.
Geography of Union Springs
Union Springs is located on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. This lake is one of New York's famous Finger Lakes. The village covers about 1.8 square miles (4.7 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small amount of water.
Roads and Routes
New York State Route 90 runs through the village along the lake shore. Another road, New York State Route 326, meets NY-90 just north of the village. These roads help connect Union Springs to other places.
Frontenac Island
Near Union Springs, in Cayuga Lake, is Frontenac Island. This island was very important to the Cayuga people for their ceremonies. It is also special because it is the only natural island in all the Finger Lakes.
In 1859, almost one-third of the island was removed. This was done to get material for a railroad embankment nearby. People did not pay attention to the old artifacts that might have been there. Later, in the mid-20th century, scientists carefully studied the island. They dug up artifacts for display at the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences.

The population of Union Springs has changed over the years. In 2000, there were 1,074 people living in the village. This included 429 households and 293 families. The population density was about 597 people per square mile.
Many households (30.8%) had children under 18 living with them. Most households (57.1%) were married couples living together. About 25.9% of all households were made up of people living alone. The average household had 2.50 people.
The age of people in the village varied. About 26.0% were under 18 years old. About 17.2% were 65 years or older. The average age was 40 years.
The median income for a household in the village was $42,778 in 2000. This means half of the households earned more than this, and half earned less. For families, the median income was $49,667. About 6.8% of the total population lived below the poverty line. This included 4.2% of those under 18 and 13.8% of those 65 or older.
