Valérie Létourneau (born April 29, 1983) is a retired Canadian mixed martial artist. She used to compete in the Flyweight and Strawweight divisions. Valérie fought for big organizations like Bellator MMA and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Valérie's Mixed Martial Arts Journey

Valérie Létourneau started her professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career on March 31, 2007. She won her first fight by TKO, which means "Technical Knockout." This happens when the referee stops the fight because one fighter can't defend themselves anymore.

After her first win, Valérie lost her next two fights. She even broke her hand in one of them! But she didn't give up. She came back strong and won her next three fights.

Trying Out for The Ultimate Fighter

In 2013, Valérie was one of the women who tried to get into The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) house. TUF is a TV show where MMA fighters compete to win a contract with the UFC. Valérie fought Roxanne Modafferi in an elimination round. She lost this fight by a "rear-naked choke," which is a type of submission hold.

Fighting in the UFC

Valérie Létourneau made her official UFC debut at UFC 174 in June 2014. She won her first UFC fight against Elizabeth Phillips by "split decision." This means that two of the three judges thought she won, while one judge thought her opponent won.

She continued to do well in the UFC. In April 2015, she won against fellow Canadian Jessica Rakoczy by "unanimous decision." This means all three judges agreed that Valérie won the fight. She also won her next fight against Maryna Moroz in August 2015, also by unanimous decision.

In November 2015, Valérie got a huge chance to fight for the UFC Strawweight Championship. She faced the champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, at UFC 193. Valérie fought hard for five rounds but lost the fight by unanimous decision.

After that, Valérie moved to the Flyweight division. She had the first-ever women's flyweight fight in UFC history against Joanne Calderwood in June 2016. She lost this fight in the third round by TKO. Her last fight in the UFC was in December 2016 against Viviane Pereira, which she lost by split decision. After this fight, she left the UFC.

Joining Bellator MMA

In April 2017, Valérie signed a new contract with Bellator MMA, another big mixed martial arts organization. This was good news because it allowed her to fight at 125 pounds, which was an easier weight for her than the 115-pound limit in the UFC's strawweight division.

Valérie made her Bellator debut in December 2017 against Kate Jackson. She won this fight by unanimous decision. She then won her next fight against Kristina Williams in June 2018, also by unanimous decision.

In December 2018, Valérie got another chance to fight for a championship. She challenged Ilima-Lei Macfarlane for the Bellator Women's Flyweight World Championship. Valérie was defeated in the third round by a submission move called a "triangle choke." After this fight, Valérie retired from professional MMA.

Valérie's Fight Record

Valérie Létourneau had a total of 17 professional MMA fights. She won 10 of them and lost 7.
