Valérie Létourneau, born on April 29, 1983, is a retired Canadian mixed martial artist. She competed in the Women's Flyweight and Strawweight divisions. She fought for two major organizations: Bellator MMA and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Her Mixed Martial Arts Journey

Valérie Létourneau started her professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career on March 31, 2007. She won her first fight by TKO (Technical Knockout) against Tannaya Hantelman. After this strong start, she faced two tough opponents, Sarah Kaufman and Alexis Davis, and lost both fights. She even broke her hand during the fight with Alexis Davis.

After these challenges, Valérie showed great determination. She won her next three fights in a row. Her winning streak led her to face Cláudia Gadelha, another skilled fighter. Valérie lost this fight by a close decision from the judges.

She then returned to fighting at AFC 21. There, she quickly defeated Jordan Moore in just 34 seconds with another TKO win.

Trying Out for The Ultimate Fighter

Valérie Létourneau was one of the women who tried to get into The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) house. This is a reality TV show where fighters compete for a contract with the UFC. She competed in the TUF 18 season. However, she lost her elimination fight to Roxanne Modafferi.

Her Time in the UFC

Even though she didn't get into the TUF house, Valérie still made it to the UFC. Her first UFC fight was at UFC 174 against Elizabeth Phillips. Valérie won this fight by a split decision, meaning the judges were divided but two of them scored the fight in her favor.

She continued her success in the UFC by facing fellow Canadian Jessica Rakoczy at UFC 186. Valérie won this fight by a unanimous decision, meaning all judges agreed she was the winner.

Her next opponent was Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night 74. Valérie won again by unanimous decision, showing her skill and consistency.

On November 15, 2015, Valérie faced a huge challenge. She fought for the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship against the champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, at UFC 193. This was a five-round championship fight. Valérie fought bravely but lost by unanimous decision.

After that, Valérie Létourneau fought Joanne Calderwood at UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Thompson. This was a special fight because it was the first-ever women's flyweight bout in UFC history. Valérie lost this fight in the third round by TKO.

Her last fight in the UFC was against Viviane Pereira at UFC 206. She lost this fight by a very close split decision. After this fight, she left the UFC.

Moving to Bellator MMA

On April 24, 2017, Valérie Létourneau signed a new contract with Bellator MMA. This was a good move for her because it allowed her to fight at 125 pounds. This weight class was easier for her than the 115-pound limit in the UFC's strawweight division.

She was supposed to debut against Emily Ducote at Bellator 181. But she had to pull out of the fight because of an injury.

Valérie finally made her Bellator debut against Kate Jackson at Bellator 191 on December 15, 2017. She won the fight by unanimous decision.

Next, she faced Kristina Williams at Bellator 201. She won this fight too, again by unanimous decision.

Her final fight was against Ilima-Lei Macfarlane at Bellator 213. This fight was for the Bellator Women's Flyweight World Championship. Valérie was defeated in the third round by submission. She retired from fighting after this match.
