A Look Back in Time
The area where Victory is now was first settled around 1799. It was part of a large area called the Central New York Military Tract. This land was set aside for soldiers who fought in the American Revolutionary War.
The town of Victory was officially formed in 1821. Before that, it was part of a larger town called Cato. There was a big disagreement about whether to split Cato into smaller towns. When the split finally happened, the new towns were named to celebrate this "victory." Another town formed at the same time was named Conquest, also celebrating the successful split.
