Vikramasingapuram, also known as VK Puram, is a town in the Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu, India. It is part of the Ambasamudram area. In 2011, about 47,241 people lived there.
This small town sits by the Thamirabarani River. It is about 46 kilometers from Tirunelveli, the main city of the district. Vikramasingapuram is also near the Podhigai Hill, which is the southern end of the Western Ghats mountain range. People of different religions and backgrounds live together peacefully here.
Geography and Location
Vikramasingapuram is located at 8.67° N latitude and 77.33° E longitude. The town is about 200 meters (656 feet) above sea level. It is 53 kilometers south of Tirunelveli and 7 kilometers from Ambasamudram. The town is right on the banks of the Thamirabarani River.
Just 2 kilometers from VK Puram is a place called Papanasam. Here, you can find the Agasthiyar Falls. The Thamirabarani River flows down into the plains from these falls. The water drops from a height of 100 meters over a rocky wall. This area is surrounded by the green, forested hills of the Western Ghats. The Agasthiyar Falls have water flowing all year round, unlike some other waterfalls that only flow during certain seasons.
