The Wallis and Futuna national football team is the official football team for Wallis and Futuna. This team is not part of FIFA. History of Wallis and Futuna Football
Early Games and First Tournaments
In 1966, Wallis and Futuna decided to play in the South Pacific Games. They joined the group stage. They lost their first game 5–0 to Tahiti. Then, they lost 9–1 to Papua New Guinea.
Their best results came at the 1979 South Pacific Games. They won 3–1 against Western Samoa. This helped them reach the knockout stages. Before that, they lost 6–0 to Solomon Islands. In the quarter-finals, they lost 5–0 to Fiji. This meant they played in a Consolation Tournament. There, they lost 1–0 to Tonga and were out.
At the 1983 South Pacific Games, they lost their first game 3–0. This was against American Samoa. But they won their next two games. They beat Western Samoa 2–1. They also beat Tonga 3–0. These wins helped them finish first in their group. In the quarter-finals, they lost 4–0 to New Caledonia. This ended their journey in the competition.
Later Years and Inactivity
The 1987 South Pacific Games used a round-robin format. Wallis and Futuna lost four games. Their only win was 5–1 against American Samoa. At the 1991 South Pacific Games, they lost all their group stage matches. They then lost to Tahiti in the Consolation Tournament. This led them to a seventh-place playoff. They won this game 5–0 against Guam.
The last time Wallis and Futuna played a game was in 1995. In that tournament, the team lost all four games they played. Since then, the team has not played any matches.
