The New Caledonia men's national football team represents New Caledonia in football. They are controlled by the Fédération Calédonienne de Football. Even though they only joined FIFA in 2004, they have played in the OFC Nations Cup since it started.
They are one of the strongest teams in their region. They finished second in the 2008 and 2012 tournaments. They also came in third place in 1973 and 1980. In September 2008, they were ranked 95th in the world by FIFA. This made them only the fourth country from their football area (Oceania) to reach the top 100 teams globally.

History of New Caledonia Football
The New Caledonian Football Federation was created in 1928. However, it did not join FIFA or the OFC until 2004. They became the 205th member of FIFA.
Before joining FIFA, the New Caledonia team could only play in friendly matches or regional events. These included the Pacific Games and the Oceania Football Cup, where they played as a guest team.
The team, nicknamed the Cagous (after a local bird), did very well in these early competitions. They won the Pacific Games many times. They also finished third in the first two OFC Nations Cup tournaments.
After not qualifying for the 2004 OFC Nations Cup, the Federation hired Didier Chambaron as the new coach. In the 2007 South Pacific Games, the Cagous played well. They beat their rivals Tahiti (1–0). This game was important because it was also a playoff for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. They also won against Tuvalu and the Cook Islands. They tied with Fiji (1–1). New Caledonia finished second in their group. Then, they beat the Solomon Islands (3–2) and won the final against Fiji (1–0).
The Pacific Games football tournament was the first step for World Cup qualification. New Caledonia moved to the second round. There, New Zealand stopped them from getting first place. However, the Cagous still finished second, ahead of Fiji and Vanuatu.
In 2011, New Caledonia won the 2011 Pacific Games. They beat the Solomon Islands 2–0 in the final. This win came after they defeated Tahiti 3–1.
In June 2012, during the Oceania Nations Cup, the Cagous had a big win. They beat New Zealand 2–0 in the semi-finals. But they lost 1–0 to Tahiti in the final. This competition also helped them qualify for the next round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Football Rivalries
New Caledonia has a long-standing football rivalry with Tahiti. Both are French territories in the Pacific. They often play against each other in regional and international games. As of 2018, New Caledonia has won 28 of their 62 matches, while Tahiti has won 25, with 9 draws.
Team Kit
Givova has been the team's kit (uniform) supplier since 2022. The home kit is a grey jersey with red shorts and red socks. The away kit is a red jersey with red shorts and white socks.
