Wetherden is a small village in Suffolk, England. It's located about 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Stowmarket. In 2011, about 540 people lived in Wetherden. It is a quiet and historic place.

History of Wetherden
Wetherden has a long history. It was first written about in the Domesday Book of 1086. This was a very old survey of England ordered by William the Conqueror. In the Domesday Book, Wetherden was called 'Watdena' or 'Wederdena'.
In the late 1500s, a man named John Sulyard bought the land of Wetherden. He built a large house called Wetherden Hall. Today, a farmhouse stands where the old hall used to be.
Important Buildings in Wetherden
Wetherden has several interesting buildings.
St Mary's Church
- St Mary's Church is a very old church. It was built in the 1300s.
- It is a Grade I listed building, which means it's a very important historic building.
- The church has a special roof from the late 1400s. It has hammerbeams in the main part and camber beams in the side aisles.
- Inside, you can find tombs of the Sulyard family. They helped pay for parts of the church to be built.
- During World War II, the church was damaged by bombs.
- In 2012, a new clock was put on the church tower. This was to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

- There is a Baptist Chapel in the village.
- The Maypole is a pub that was built around 1530. It is also a Grade II listed building.

Sport in Wetherden
Wetherden has its own football team called Wetherden F.C. They play their games on the village playing field. The team is part of the Ipswich Sunday football league.
Famous People from Wetherden
Several notable people have connections to Wetherden:
- Diarmaid MacCulloch (born 1951) is a famous historian. He lived in Wetherden when he was a boy.
- William Robinson (Governor of Hong Kong) (1836-1912) was born in Wetherden. He later became a governor of Hong Kong.
- Richard Shepherd (theologian) (1732-1809) was a religious scholar. He was the rector (a type of priest) at Wetherden from 1792 until he passed away.
- John Sulyard (c. 1518-1575) was a local landowner and lawyer. He was important in the village's history.
- Michael Tippett (1905-1998) was a well-known music composer. He also lived in Wetherden when he was a boy.
