List of Hannah Montana episodes

"Wherever I Go" is the very last episode of the TV show Hannah Montana. It is the 98th episode in total. This special episode was written by the show's main producers, Michael Poryes and Steven Peterman. It first aired in the United States on January 16, 2011, on the Disney Channel. Later, it was shown in Canada on March 18, 2011, on the Family Channel. The episode's name comes from a Hannah Montana song called "Wherever I Go".

This episode is also the second and final time Mitchel Musso appears as Oliver Oken in the show's fourth season.

The Story of "Wherever I Go"

This episode focuses on Miley Stewart making a big choice about her future.

Miley's Big Decision

Miley gets an amazing offer from famous movie makers Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise. They want her to star in a movie! But there's a catch: filming will be in Paris and will last a whole year. This means Miley can't go to college with her best friend, Lilly.

Miley tries to keep this secret from Lilly. She hopes Lilly will decide on her own not to go to college with Miley. They even drive to Stanford University for a special weekend visit for new students. But Lilly is just super excited to go to school with her best friend.

Friendship Challenges

Finally, Miley tells Lilly about the movie deal. They get into a big argument. Lilly tells Miley she never wants to go anywhere with her again. On the drive home, Lilly even says she's moving back in with her dad. Miley is very upset. She talks to her brother, Jackson, about her problem. Jackson suggests that Miley should have asked Lilly to come to Paris with her. Miley hugs Jackson, and their dad, Robby, says it's a sweet moment.

Miley realizes why Lilly was so upset. They have always done everything together. Miley didn't ask Lilly to join her in Paris. So, Miley asks Lilly to come to Paris with her. They both decide to go to Paris together! Miley's boyfriend, Jesse, and Lilly's boyfriend, Oliver, meet them at the airport. They want to say goodbye before the trip.

A New Path for Lilly and Miley

Oliver tells Lilly some important words that make her think again about her decision. Before getting on the plane, Lilly tells Miley that she has decided to go to college after all. Even if it means being without Miley. Miley and Lilly start their lives apart. The two actresses sing a duet together. The music then moves to Lilly's dorm room. Someone knocks on her door.

Lilly opens the door, and it's Miley! Miley says, "I'm Miley, I'm your new roommate." Miley tells Lilly that there will always be movies, concerts, and tours for her. But she will only have one chance to go to college with her best friend. This means Miley decided not to do the movie. The two friends hug. The camera moves away from them and shows a close-up of a picture collage of Miley and Lilly. Then the screen fades to black. A collection of images from the show's history plays during the credits. The song "I'll Always Remember You" plays as the series ends.

Jackson's Subplot

Jackson struggles to keep up with his girlfriend Siena's lifestyle. Siena is a bikini model, and Jackson feels like he isn't good enough compared to her. He tries different jobs to earn more money to buy Siena a nice gift. He even works for Rico again. When Jackson buys Siena a nice necklace, she buys him a car! Jackson is upset and talks to Miley. Miley gives him a pep talk.

Rico realizes he actually likes Jackson as a friend. He finds Jackson a dream job: a video game tester. Rico and Jackson finally admit that even though they fight, they are close friends. Later, Jackson is working from a hot tub. Siena says that the way Jackson and Miley tease each other seems mean. But Jackson explains that it's just how they show they care about each other.

Alternate Ending of the Episode

The Hannah Montana Forever: Final Season DVD included a different ending for the episode. This alternate ending starts from the airport scene. Miley and Lilly say their goodbyes. Lilly goes to Stanford for college, and Miley goes to Paris to work with Spielberg and Cruise. The camera then moves away from Miley and Lilly hugging. It zooms in on a little girl sitting in a chair. She is holding a Hannah Montana doll. Text appears saying: "Tennessee: Twelve Years Ago". It shows a young girl playing with a Barbie doll. She is singing a song about becoming a famous rockstar.

Miley's real-life parents, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus, walk into the room. They tell her it's past her bedtime and tuck her in. Young Miley then says, "I'm going to be a rockstar one day, just like Daddy." Then Tish tells her that if she keeps believing in herself, she can do anything. Billy Ray tells Miley that someday her dream will come true. The scene eventually changes to a photograph of the real-life Miley and her parents. This suggests that just like Miley Stewart, Miley Cyrus imagined being famous one day, and her dream really did come true.
