Hannah Montana Forever is the official music album for the fourth and last season of the TV show Hannah Montana. It was released on October 15, 2010, by Walt Disney Records. All eleven songs on the album are sung by Miley Cyrus, who plays the main character, Hannah Montana. Other famous singers like Billy Ray Cyrus, Iyaz, and Sheryl Crow also sing on the album. The music on the album is mostly pop, but it also has sounds from teen pop, pop rock, power pop, dance-pop, and country pop.
The first song released from the album was "Ordinary Girl" on July 8, 2010. It was available to download and later as a CD. This song reached number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Are You Ready" was the second song released on September 3, 2010. "Gonna Get This" came out as the third song on October 5, 2010, and reached number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100. Behind the Music: How Songs Were Made
The first song on the album, "Gonna Get This," is a duet with singer Iyaz. It was written by Niclas Molinder, Joacim Persson, Johan Alkenas, and Drew Ryan Scott. Iyaz shared that he loved Miley Cyrus's music and Hannah Montana was one of his favorite shows. He said, "I've been watching the show for a very long time, and finally got the opportunity to do a song with Miley."
They recorded "Gonna Get This" quickly in April 2010 because Iyaz was also appearing on an episode of Hannah Montana. Iyaz described the song as having a cool vibe. He said Miley added her unique style, and he put an "island twist" on it. An early version of the song, called "This Boy, That Girl," was leaked online in July 2010.
Toby Gad helped write several songs for the album, including "Ordinary Girl", "Que Será", and "Are You Ready". "Are You Ready" was written by Gad, BC Jean, and Lyrica Anderson. This song was actually recorded for Hannah Montana 3 and was leaked online in 2008, but it wasn't included on that album.
"Need a Little Love" is a duet with Sheryl Crow, who was a guest star on the show. This song was written by Jaime Houston. "Love That Lets Go" is a duet with Miley's real-life father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who also played her dad, Robbie Ray Stewart, on the show. Adam Anders and Nikki Hassman wrote this song. "I'm Still Good" and "Been Here All Along" were written by Jennie Lurie, Aris Archontis, and Chen Neeman.
Walt Disney Records said that Hannah Montana Forever has many different types of music. It includes soft ballads and energetic pop songs. "Gonna Get This" uses a lot of synthesizers and sounds inspired by Caribbean music. "Ordinary Girl" is a pop song with strong vocals and lots of percussion. Its lyrics are about how even famous people are just regular people.
"Kiss It Goodbye" is an upbeat dance-pop and pop rock song. "I'll Always Remember You" is about the feelings you have when saying a sad goodbye. "Need a Little Love" has rich pop harmonies. "Are You Ready" has an upbeat sound inspired by club music. The song "Love That Lets Go" is a special tribute to the close relationship between Miley and her father, both on and off screen. "I'm Still Good" is a fast-paced pop rock song, and "Been Here All Along" is a ballad about loving someone far away. The last song on the album, "Barefoot Cinderella," was described as an exciting pop song by Walt Disney Records.

On October 15, 2010, the song was released as a track on the album. It reached number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The music video for "Ordinary Girl" doesn't show Miley Cyrus. How the Album Was Promoted
"Are You Ready" was the first song from the album to be played on Radio Disney on May 14, 2010. It was then released as the first track from Hannah Montana Forever on July 1, 2010, only through Wal-Mart's online store. On September 3, 2010, "Are You Ready" was released to online music stores in Europe.
Later, "I'm Still Good" and "Que Será" also premiered on Radio Disney on August 13, 2010, and September 3, 2010, respectively. "I'm Still Good" got a music video that showed a performance from the episode "Been Here All Along." "Que Sera" also had a music video. It showed a person who looked like Miley Cyrus in a recording studio, with quick images showing a teenage boy trying to fix a relationship.
The song "Gonna Get This" premiered on Radio Disney and its video on Disney Channel on September 24, 2010. It was released as the second track from Hannah Montana Forever on October 5, 2010, only on the United States iTunes Store. The Hannah Montana Forever album was first played on TV on October 16, with replays on the next two days. The song "Wherever I Go" was added to Radio Disney after the final episode of Hannah Montana. "Wherever I Go" was also a bonus track on the US iTunes store. A duet version of the song with Emily Osment can be heard in the show's series finale.
Album Sales and Charts
Hannah Montana Forever started at number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. This was the lowest starting position for a new album by Miley Cyrus. It was also the first Hannah Montana album since 2008's Hannah Montana Hits Remixed to not reach the top ten. In its first week, the album sold about 28,000 copies. This was much less than the previous album, Hannah Montana 3, which sold over 109,000 more copies in its first week.
