Worth County is a small area of land in the northwestern part of Missouri, a state in the United States. In 2020, about 1,973 people lived there. This makes it the county with the fewest people in Missouri. It's also the smallest county in terms of land area, if you don't count the independent city of St. Louis.
The main town and government center of Worth County is Grant City. The county was officially created on February 8, 1861. It was named after General William J. Worth, who was a hero in the Mexican–American War. Worth County is also the newest county in Missouri.

Geography
Worth County covers about 267 square miles (692 square kilometers). Almost all of this area is land, with only a tiny bit of water. It is the smallest county in Missouri by its total size. To the north of Worth County is the state of Iowa.
