Yerry Fernando Mina González (born on September 23, 1994) is a professional footballer from Colombia. He plays as a centre-back for the Serie A club Cagliari. He also plays for the Colombia national team.
Mina holds a special record. He shares the record for the most goals scored by a defender in a single FIFA World Cup. He scored three goals at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Yerry Mina started his football career in Colombia. He later moved to Brazil and then to Europe. He has played for many famous clubs.
Early Career in Colombia
Yerry Mina began his journey in football in his home country. He joined a youth team when he was 18.
Playing for Deportivo Pasto
Mina was born in Guachené, Colombia. He joined the youth team of Deportivo Pasto. He made his first senior team appearance in 2013. This was in a cup game against Dépor.
He played his first top-league game on September 15, 2013. He scored his first professional goal on October 18. This was in a 2–2 draw against Atlético Huila.
Success at Santa Fe
In December 2013, Mina moved to Independiente Santa Fe. He first joined on a one-year loan. He quickly became a key player for the team.
He helped Santa Fe win the Colombian league in 2014. They beat Independiente Medellín in the final. Mina also scored a goal in the 2015 Superliga Colombiana final. This helped his team win against Atlético Nacional. He was a regular player when Santa Fe won the 2015 Copa Sudamericana championship.
Moving to Brazil: Palmeiras
On May 1, 2016, Mina joined Palmeiras in Brazil. He signed a five-year contract. He started playing for them in July 2016.

Life at Everton
On August 8, 2018, Mina signed with Premier League team Everton. The deal was worth €30 million.
He made his first appearance as a substitute. He scored his first goal for Everton in a 5–1 win against Burnley. He scored with a header early in the game.
In February 2020, he scored two goals in one game against Watford. Everton came back from being 2–0 down to win 3–2. He scored another header goal in October 2020 against Brighton.
Short Stays in Italy
On August 4, 2023, Mina moved to Serie A club Fiorentina for free. He played only 4 games for them.
On February 1, 2024, Mina signed with Cagliari. He signed a contract until June 2024.
Representing Colombia
In 2016, Mina was part of Colombia's Copa América Centenario team. He played in five World Cup qualifying games. In May 2018, he was chosen for Colombia's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
At the 2018 World Cup, Mina scored three goals for Colombia. All of them were headers. He did not play in the first game. But he started every game after that. He scored the first goal in a 3–0 win against Poland. Then he scored the only goal in a 1–0 win against Senegal. These goals helped Colombia win their group.
Against England in the knockout stage, Mina scored in the 93rd minute. This tied the game 1–1 and sent it to extra time. Colombia lost the game on penalty kicks. With his three goals, he tied a World Cup record for defenders.
