Zoids Wild (ZOIDS ゾイド ワイルド, Zoido Wairudo) is an exciting anime series based on the cool Zoids model kits. These Zoids are awesome robot animals made by Takara Tomy. Zoids Wild is the fifth Zoids anime show. It's part of a big new launch for the Zoids world, including new toys, manga (Japanese comics), and video games for the Nintendo Switch. This series is mostly made for kids aged 10 to 12.

Meet the Characters of Zoids Wild

This section introduces the main characters from the Zoids Wild anime series. Each character has a special bond with their Zoid.

Main Heroes and Their Zoids

Arashi (アラシ)
Arashi is a new Zoid pilot. He rides the legendary Liger, a very powerful Zoid. Even though he starts out less skilled than others, he quickly learns. Arashi and Liger can use a special move called "Wild Blast." He becomes very strong, even learning the "Ultra King Claw" attack. Arashi and Liger travel alone after the Dark Metal Empire is defeated.
Quade / Bacon (ベーコン, Bēkon)
Quade leads Team Supreme. He is a famous and strong Zoid Seeker. He first wanted to find the Liger, but then he met Arashi. Quade and his Zoid, the Zaber Fang, are against the Dark Metal Empire. He was looking for a secret "Ancient Treasure Z." Quade had a deep connection with his Zoid and knew Arashi's father.
Battalia / Penne (ペンネ, Penne)
Battalia had a tough past. Bandits hurt her family when she was young. She ran away to an orphanage with her Zoid, Needle. She takes care of the other orphans. Battalia became a bounty hunter to earn money for them. She eventually joined Arashi's team after turning against the Dark Metal Empire. Needle gave her its Zoid Key.
Analog / Onigiri (オニギリ, Onigiri)
Analog is part of the Freedom Team. He pilots the Tortoise Zoid, Tanks. Analog loves to explain Zoids' names and abilities. He was once forced to do experiments for the Dark Metal Empire. After meeting Arashi, Analog bravely fought back. Tanks then gave him its Zoid Key.
Bastion / Gyōza (ギョーザ)
Bastion is also on the Freedom Team. He pilots the Triceratops Zoid, Tryke. Bastion is a strong pilot who uses rap and dance to help Tryke fight. His Zoid is slow but powerful up close. Bastion used to care only about money to buy medicine for his sick sister. He learned the Empire was tricking him. This made him change, and Tryke gave him its Zoid Key.
Apex / Salt (ソルト, Soruto)
Apex is a member of the Freedom Team. He pilots the Wolf Zoid, Alpha Shadow. Apex was raised by Alpha Shadow after being lost as a child. He wanted to be the best Zoid pilot. Apex first thought friends were not needed, but his rivalry with Arashi changed his mind. He is the only one to use the "Second Gear" ability of Wild Blast.
Snare / Yokan (ヨウカン, Youkan)
Snare is a mysterious treasure hunter on the Freedom Team. She pilots the Arachnid Zoid, Phobia. She has a very sharp eye for finding things.

The Dark Metal Empire and Allies

Drake (ドレイク, Doreiku)
Drake is one of the Four Dark Warriors of the Dark Metal Empire. He pilots the Deinonychus Zoid, Ruin. Drake's parents taught him to respect Zoids. They were tricked by the Empire and sacrificed themselves for Drake. Gigaboss trained Drake to be a Dark Warrior. Drake later left the Empire after bonding with Ruin and learning Wild Blast.
Malware / Caviar (キャビア, Kyabia)
Malware is one of the Four Dark Warriors. He pilots the Alligator Zoid, Overbyte.
Numb-Lock / Foie gras (フォアグラ, Foagura)
Numb-Lock is another of the Four Dark Warriors. He pilots the gorilla Zoid, Dragz.
Haxile / Truffle (トリュフ, Toryufu)
Haxile is one of the Four Dark Warriors. He pilots the Stegosaurus Zoid, Bonesaw, and the Dimetrodon Zoid, Dimomite.
Marcellus / Gallagar (ギャラガー, Gyaragar)
Before he was the Emperor of the Dark Metal Empire, Marcellus was a bit strange. He wanted a super powerful Zoid. When Quade stopped him, he became obsessed with breaking Zoids from their pilots. He changed his name to Gigaboss and became the evil leader of the Dark Metal Empire.

Dyna / Sauce (ソース, Sōsu)
Dyna is part of the Supreme Team and pilots Winghorn.
Shad / Candy (キャンディ, Kyandi)
Shad is also on the Supreme Team and pilots Flyhorn.
Scrapes / Avocado (アボカド, Abokado)
Scrapes is a member of the Supreme Team. He pilots the Ankylosaurus Zoid, Knockz.
Pach / Garlic (ガーリック, Gārikku)
Pach is on the Supreme Team. He pilots the Pachycephhlosaurus Zoid, Rash.
Ikazuchi (イカヅチ, Ikazuchi)
Ikazuchi is Arashi's father.
Gaffer / Taifu (タイフウ, Taifuu)
Gaffer is Arashi's grandfather.
Greta / Sanratan (サンラータン)
Greta is a transporter, so she doesn't fight. She has a very strong bond with her Silkworm Zoid, Spineless.
Master Bug / Mushi Sennin (ムシ仙人)
Master Bug is a very strange man who loves making up stories. He doesn't know much about the outside world. Master Bug is an amazing Zoid pilot, one of the best. He can easily fight many Zoids at once.

The Zoids Wild Manga Series

A manga series for Zoids Wild was created by Moricha. It was published every month in Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic magazine. The first series ran from April 2018 to May 2019.

The Zoids Wild Anime Shows

The first Zoids Wild anime aired in Japan on Mainichi Broadcasting System and Tokyo Broadcasting System. It ran from July 7, 2018, to June 29, 2019. The show was made by OLM studio. Norihiko Sudō directed it, and Mitsutaka Hirota wrote the story.

In North America, Hasbro brought Zoids Wild over. Hasbro Studios (now Allspark) licensed the anime for an English version. This English version was dubbed by Ocean Productions. The first half of the show came out on Netflix on August 14, 2020. The second half was released on October 3, 2020. The English dub also aired in the Philippines on Cartoon Network starting March 2, 2019. It also aired in Singapore on Okto and then Channel 5.

A second season, called Zoids Wild Zero, was also made. It has a brand-new story and new characters. Takao Kato directed it, and Kenichi Araki wrote it. This second season aired from October 4, 2019, to October 16, 2020, on TV Tokyo. Some episodes were delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the show returned on June 19, 2020.

In September 2020, a new CG-animated series was announced. It's called Zoids Wild Senki. This series is released on YouTube on the CoroCoro and Takara Tomy channels. It started on October 17, 2020.

  • An arcade game called Zoids Wild: Battle Card Hunter (ゾイドワイルド バトルカードハンター, Zoido Wairudo: Batoru Kādo Hantā) was released in Japan by Takara Tomy on January 24, 2019.
  • A Nintendo Switch game, Zoids Wild: King of Blast (ゾイドワイルド キング オブ ブラスト, Zoido Wairudo: Kingu Obu Burasuto), came out on February 28, 2019. This action game was made by Eighting. Outright Games released this game in other parts of the world as Zoids Wild: Blast Unleashed on October 16, 2020.
  • A third video game, Zoids Wild: Infinity Blast, was released in Japan on November 26, 2020, and worldwide on March 17, 2021.
