Ántero Flores-Aráoz Esparza (born 28 February 1942) is a Peruvian lawyer and politician. He briefly served as the Prime Minister of Peru in November 2020. He was once a well-known member and leader of the Christian People's Party. Later, he started his own party, the Order Party.

About Ántero Flores-Aráoz
Early Life and Education
Ántero Flores-Aráoz Esparza was born in Lima, Peru, in 1942. His parents were Ántero Flores-Aráoz Adalid and Inés Esparza Moselli. He is also a descendant of Francisco Aráoz de Lamadrid, a hero from the independence movements of Argentina and Peru.
He went to Colegio La Salle de Lima for his primary and secondary schooling. He first studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Later, he moved to the National University of San Marcos, where he finished his law degree and became a lawyer.
Besides his political work, he has also taught at universities. He was a teacher at the University of Lima and the University of San Martín de Porres.
His Political Journey
Ántero Flores-Aráoz has had a long career in Peruvian politics. He first tried to become a member of the Congress of Peru in 1985 but was not elected.
Member of Congress
In 1990, he ran for Congress again and was elected. He served several terms as a member of Congress. This means he helped make laws for the country.
President of Congress
In 2004, he was chosen to be the President of Congress. This was an important role because he was the only opposition leader to hold this position during the time Alejandro Toledo was president.
Minister of Defense
In December 2007, Flores-Aráoz became the Minister of Defense for Peru. He took over from Allan Wagner Tizón. During his time as Defense Minister, there was a difficult event in 2009 involving protests. After this event, he resigned from his position.
Prime Minister of Peru
In November 2020, Ántero Flores-Aráoz was named Prime Minister of Peru by President Manuel Merino. This was a very short term. After President Merino resigned, a new president, Francisco Sagasti, took office. Sagasti then appointed Violeta Bermúdez to replace Flores-Aráoz as prime minister just a few days later.
After his time as prime minister, the government announced that his actions during his time in office would be investigated.
Political Views
Flores-Aráoz holds conservative political views. Early in his career, he was seen as a moderate Christian democrat. However, over time, his views became more traditional. He has also been very active in speaking out against terrorism in Peru.
Regarding education, Flores-Aráoz has supported private universities that faced issues with quality standards. He believed these universities should have another chance to improve.
