Adam's Sprinting Journey
Starting Strong (2011-2015)
In 2011, Adam won a silver medal in the 100 metres at the 2011 European Athletics Junior Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. He also helped the British team win a silver medal in the 4 × 100 metres relay. That year, he ran the 200 metres in 20.98 seconds, which was the fastest time for a European junior.
In June 2012, Adam ran a time that qualified him for the 2012 London Olympics in the 100 metres. He ran 10.08 seconds, which was the second fastest time ever by a British junior at that point. He was chosen for the British 4 × 100 metres relay team for the Olympics.
On July 11, 2012, Adam won the gold medal in the 100 metres at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics. He finished in 10.05 seconds, setting a new championship record. This time was also a new British junior record. At the 2012 London Olympics, Adam finished third in his 100 metres semi-final. He was very close to reaching the final.
In 2013, Adam started training for the 200 metres. At the 2013 World Championships in Athletics in Moscow, he ran a personal best of 19.98 seconds in the semi-final. This made him only the second British athlete to run under 20 seconds in the event. He finished fifth in the final.

Adam won his first senior medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He came second in the 100 metres final. Two weeks later, he won his first senior title, taking gold in the 200 metres at the 2014 European Athletics Championships. He matched his personal best time of 19.98 seconds.
Breaking Records and Olympic Dreams (2015-2019)
On May 31, 2015, Adam ran the 100 metres in 9.97 seconds. This was the first time he ran under 10 seconds, but the wind was too strong for it to count as an official record. Two months later, in July, he officially broke the 10-second barrier. He ran 9.97 seconds legally, becoming the 100th man in history to do so. However, he fell as he crossed the finish line and injured his hamstring, which made him miss the 2015 World Championships.
Adam made it to the men's 200 metres final at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He finished fourth, missing a bronze medal by just six thousandths of a second!
In 2017, Adam was part of the British 4 × 100 metres relay team at the World Championships. They won a historic gold medal, setting a new national and European record. This race was also famous because it was Usain Bolt's last race, and he got injured during it.
Adam competed in both the 100 metres and 200 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar. He just missed out on the 100 metres final. In the 200 metres final, he was leading for a while but finished in fourth place. He then ran the first part of the men's 4 × 100 metres relay, helping the team win a silver medal and set a new European record of 37.36 seconds.
