Ahmed Shehzad, born on November 23, 1991, is a former international cricketer from Pakistan. He was an opening batsman, meaning he was one of the first players to bat for his team.

He started playing for the Pakistan national team in April 2009. His first international matches were in One Day and Twenty20 games against Australia. Ahmed Shehzad was part of the Pakistani team that won the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 tournament. In the 2014 T20 World Cup, he made history by scoring 111 runs against Bangladesh. This was the first time a Pakistani player scored a century (100 runs) in a T20 World Cup match.

Early Life and Family

Ahmed Shehzad was born in Lahore, Pakistan, on November 23, 1991. He comes from a Pashtun family. Besides English and Urdu, he can also speak Pashto.

He grew up in a regular family home near the famous Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore. On September 19, 2015, Ahmed Shehzad married his childhood friend, Sana. They have two children: a son born in 2017 and a daughter born in 2021.

Ahmed Shehzad played for many different cricket teams throughout his career. These teams were both within Pakistan and in other countries.

Top Performances in Domestic Cricket

  • In 2011-2012, he was the top run-scorer in the BPL. He was also named the best batsman of the tournament.
  • He scored the most runs in the 2016–17 Departmental One Day Cup. He made 653 runs, including his highest score of 166 runs in a List A game. He was also the captain of his team during this tournament.
  • In the 2016 Pakistan Cup, he was again the top run-scorer and named the best player. He scored 372 runs in just 5 matches.
  • In April 2018, he was chosen to be the captain of the Balochistan squad for the 2018 Pakistan Cup. He scored 251 runs for Balochistan in four matches.
  • In 2019, he was part of the Federal Areas squad for the 2019 Pakistan Cup.
  • He played for Central Punjab in the 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and stayed with them for the 2020–21 season.
  • In November 2021, he was picked to play for the Colombo Stars in the 2021 Lanka Premier League.
  • In December 2023, Ahmed Shehzad announced he was leaving the PSL. This was because no team selected him to play.

International Cricket Career

Ahmed Shehzad started his first-class cricket career in 2007. His excellent score of 167 runs for the Pakistan Youth team against England helped him get called up to the national team.
