Rohit Sharma is a famous cricket player from India. He was born on April 30, 1987. Many people think he is one of the best batsmen of his time. He is also known as Hitman because of how well he hits the ball, his elegant style, and his strong leadership.

He plays for the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also plays for the Mumbai cricket team in local cricket games. Rohit used to be the captain of the Mumbai Indians. Under his leadership, the team won the Indian Premier League five times (in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020). This makes him one of the most successful captains in IPL history, sharing the record with MS Dhoni.

Rohit Sharma was born on April 30, 1987. His parents are Purnima and Gurunath Sharma. He grew up in Borivali with his grandparents and uncles. This was because his father did not earn much money. He would visit his parents in Dombivli only on weekends. Rohit has a younger brother named Vishal.

How Rohit Started Playing Cricket

In 1999, Rohit joined a cricket camp. His uncle paid for him to go. His coach, Dinesh Lad, saw how good he was. The coach asked Rohit to switch to Swami Vivekanand International School. This school had better cricket facilities. Rohit said he could not afford it, but the coach got him a scholarship. For four years, he did not have to pay any fees.

Rohit first started as a bowler who could also bat a little. But his coach saw his batting talent. He moved Rohit from batting at number eight to being an opener. Rohit did very well in school cricket tournaments. He even scored a century (100 runs) in his very first game as an opener.
