How Air Creebec Started
Air Creebec was created in June 1982. It began flying on July 1, 1982. When it first started, the Cree people owned 51% of the company. Another airline, Austin Airways, owned the other 49%.
In 1988, the Cree people bought all the remaining parts of the airline. This made Air Creebec fully owned by the Cree. It was the biggest business deal ever done by an Indigenous group in Canada at that time.
On March 23, 2012, Air Creebec stopped its flights to La Grande Rivière Airport.
